| Diabetics Should Avoid Carbohydrates Source: Health & Nutrition, October 2000. www.magnamags.com |
Wrong, if eating a certain level of carbohydrates allows a person to get his or her blood sugar level into the desired range, consuming even less will not control blood sugar any better. All it will do is make eating extremely difficult. Carbohydrates are in everything from gain-based foods like breads and cereals to fruits, vegetables, and milk. |
Furthermore, cutting down too drastically on those foods will compromise the nutritional quality of the diet, all are major source of vitamins and minerals as was as other substances that promote health. |
The appropriate level of carbohydrates differs from person to person depending, in part, on the severity of the diabetes as well as on the patient’s lifestyle. A better option would be to have a nutritionist list out high glycemic index food in the diet. These have a greater impact on blood sugar levels. |
